Syntax6 is best known for her long novel length case files and for writing believable Mulder/Scully romance. These short stories do not fit precisely into either of those categories. They follow canon, from seasons one through seven, with each pair of stories describing either Mulder's or Scully's birthday. Since this is not a show full of happy endings, some are rather melancholy. Please don't let that stop you from reading them. They are small, perfect gems that show us glimpses of the characters' lives off screen, full of intimate knowledge and convincing details about the cases they are working on together and, of course, about Mulder and Scully themselves. Syntax6 wrote "Birthday Stories" as a birthday gift for a friend, but they are truly a gift to us all.
The first story seems especially appropriate to read today as it features a trip to the Liberty Bell.
Birthday Stories
She also started a Christmas series last year; you can read the first two stories at her author's page at Gossamer.
Happy Independence Day to our members in the USA.
