"Heated" was nominated by
ktds, near the end of the "first time" story series. Back when I was first reading fanfiction, I found this story on the rec site, Bright Shiny Objects. This is one of the best of the short stories written for the Fandomonium Virtual Seasons of Smut not that the bar was set particularly high. An excellent writer, Humby wasn't content to post a PWP; instead, she gives "Heated" a plot which fits the requisite sex scene neatly into "The Erlenmeyer Flask." She rates it NC-17, but I think I'd give it an "R" at most. Joann Humby wrote fanfiction for The X-Files from 1997 through 2004, most of which can be found at Gossamer or at her old site, way-backed. She is best known for her Profiler!Mulder case files.
It would be great to send her some feedback; even authors who have left fandom love knowing people still read the fanfiction. The nomination post is always open for comments.
Read "Heated", and please, let us know what you think.
