The party's over. Yes, this week we are taking a break from our first-time Mulder/Scully madness, changing course to read a PG-13 casefile. "Wing and Prayer" was nominated by
hyperladder, seconded by
lightlack and thirded by
amyhit, who is right, by the way, this isn't exactly genfic. This is seventh season MSR, with
revely portraying their relationship in a way that feels very close to canon even to me.

Date: 2010-09-08 09:06 pm (UTC)The baptism and resurrection scenes in WAAP are all the more powerful for being part of a scientifically grounded casefile. Religion is so often flaunted and exploited today--and CC's approach was pretty ham-handed--but the images retain their power when respectfully invoked. Birds destroying themselves out of sheer ignorance; then some of them--*some* of them, since we are still in the fallen world--having health restored. That's quite a good parable. We should congratulate the author, especially when we consider her competition.
(Scully once said that something on one ep was a parable when it absolutely *was not*. That Chris Carter. Wouldn't maintain a show bible, and apparently didn't think it necessary to research the original.)
